In the short-film, "I am in Orbit", we follow the astronaut Hal, in a moon-like landscape. While collecting sample materials for Mission Control, he begins to reflect about his own being. Suddenly time and space, merely become external factors. The piece has no end or beginning.
The footage was recorded in the area around Askja, Iceland. Back in 1965 and 1967 the Apollo Astronauts trained in this area because it was the most moon-like field compared to other areas they trained in previously.
There is as well a lot of mysticism surrounding the Askja Caldera and the big Öskjuvatn lake. In 1907, two German scientists vanished without a trace while exploring water and the geology in the area.
